Discussing the Future of Medical Device Development

On October 14–15, 2026, technology decision-makers, project leaders, and experts in system architecture, development, and testing from the medtech sector will gather in Karlsruhe for the 4th Vector Medical Engineering Symposium.

Expect two days of insights, technical perspectives, and exchange with the MedTech engineering community. In around 15 technical presentations and keynotes, workshops, and a panel discussion, industry and engineering experts will explore current challenges and future trends in software and electronics for medical devices.

Two Days Dedicated to Modern MedTech Development
Day 1: Strategic Perspectives, Requirements for Next Generation MedTech
The first day focuses on future generations of medical devices, including:
  • Platform strategies for scalable product families
  • Software-defined medical devices
  • Interoperability and connected systems
Together with experts from industry and engineering, we will discuss how these technologies impact product architectures and quality, development processes, time & cost reduction, and regulatory requirements.

Day 2: Corner Stones for Future Device Development: Connectivity and AI
The second day dives into the benefits and challenges of operating theatres and ICUs. The second focus will be on AI.
Presentations will address topics such as:
  • IEEE 11073 SDC: Interoperability enables future-ready system architecture
  • Simulation and test strategies for connected systems
  • Artificial intelligence in medical technology: Developing MedTech with AI, developing AI for MedTech
Learn from real-world project examples how modern engineering methods help ensure the safe and efficient development of complex medical systems.

  • Developing Medical Devices in the SDC ecosystem
